Who we are?

Youth for Mental Health (YMH) is a youth-led organization that empowers college students to become advocates for mental health.
​
Our approach centers on peer-based engagement, capacity building, and the creation of inclusive spaces where mental health can be discussed openly, critically, and with care.
We collaborate with several national and global organizations, to support the design and implementation of youth mental health initiatives across campuses. We focus on expanding outreach, deepening community engagement, and strengthening the operational capacity of the programs that center youth voices and leadership.
Our Vision
We envision a world where every young person can access safe, inclusive, and empowering mental health ecosystems—shaped and sustained by youth voices, leadership, and lived experiences.
From the Founder
Youth for Mental Health was born from a very personal place — a recognition that so many young people, including myself, have struggled in silence, unsure of where to go or who to turn to. We started YMH not just to create awareness, but to build a movement where young people feel seen, heard, and supported. Our work is rooted in the belief that mental health is political, that care should be collective, and that change must be co-led by those most affected.

From Volunteer to Leader
Inayat's Journey at YMH
From starting as a student intern to becoming YMH’s first project-based employee, Inayat’s journey reflects what YMH stands for- a space where young people grow, lead, and build meaningfully. Today, she leads operations and manages METROPOLIS, one of the world’s largest youth mental health trials. Her story reflects the true impact of centering youth voices, leadership, and lived experience
